Thank you for visiting my website, I just wanted to introduce myself and what I am about quickly!

I started this blog to write about nature in my little corners of the world - a dairy farm in the Irish midlands, which is my husband's business - and the extremely neglected back garden of our family home in a housing estate on the outskirts of a village.

I will also be chronicling my efforts as an enthusiastic amateur in beekeeping, flower farming and living more lightly on this troubled planet of ours.

I hope everyone will find something of interest or relevant to them in the coming weeks and months. We will be looking at wildlife that is right outside your back door or in the woods where you walk your dog. The everyday is amazing when you take the time to look closely.

As a mum of three who lives in the countryside and commutes to work in the city, I know how busy life can be but reacquainting ourselves with nature has never been more important.

The natural world that we take for granted around us - the birds, the bees, even those annoying weeds - is disappearing at a terrifying rate right under our noses. We have a limited time to redress the balance before the world as we know it changes for ever.

The first step is to notice what is around us and ask questions. When start learning about something, be it the finches in our garden or the polar ice caps - it's not too big a leap before we start caring about it and are motivated to help preserve it.

I don't pretend to know it all but as I learn more I will share it here. We are all just doing the best we can in our own circumstances, until we know better and then we can do better.

Nature has been an important healing force in my own life so I hope in some small way I can give something back to the natural world by the way I farm my little patch of land and share what I am learning.

So I hope you will read on and find something of interest!
